Therapeutic Orthotics

There are three basic levels of orthotic treatment available..

1)the first of these are those purchased at retail outlets. These are very basic devices and have a limited effect.

2)professional semi-preformed or fully preformed orthotics that are available from podiatrists. These are a general shape based on averages and can be very effective for the right patient. They are also economical and on occasion are prescibed in place of custom orthotics when the patient has a limited budget. These may be claimed on most private health insurance companies if the right level of insurance has been taken out.

At Beaconsfield Podiatry we have several ranges of  pre fabricated orthotics from "Express Orthotics" and "Vasyli". We also utilise other brands of orthotics when needed especially those for children when a very deep device is necessary.

3)custom designed and manufactured orthotics are the third category. These are generally semi-rigid and based on casts or scans of the foot. When processed correctly they represent a very close fit to the individual foot with the presciption built into the device. At Beaconsfield Podiatry we combine the best of the latest and traditional technologies and use the best materials available.

Two styles of children's preformed orthotics used in this practice. These are excellent devices for children with flat or severely inrolling feet and are an economical alternative to custom orthotics for many children. They are adjustable and readily accepted by children who love the colours.

Heel Lifts and Heel Wedges. These are used to adjust the angles on othotics. They can also be used inside shoes to give lift when there is a limb length difference.

As well as orthotics, Beaconsfield Podiatry also has a range of insoles for cushioning and pressure relief. This are at a modest cost and can be taylored to the individual needs of the patient. Only the very best biomechanical materials are used.
